My name is Rachel Smith, and I am the Recruitment Coordinator at the University of Nebraska College of Law. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing from UNK in 2022. I am currently working to earn my Master’s degree in Educational Administration with specialization in Higher Education at UNL. I have been in my role at the College of Law for nearly three years. Some of my responsibilities include developing and implementing recruitment strategies, managing a team of 72 student ambassadors, and presenting at various colleges and universities to inform students about the benefits of a law degree. We recruit across the country, so I also travel to represent Nebraska at law school forums and fairs, visiting an average of between 30 and 40 cities each year. Additionally, I volunteer as an advisor for the Chi Omega chapter at UNL. I enjoy being an advisor because I get to connect with and be a mentor to the girls in the chapter. I would like to run for staff senate because I have been lucky to network with several other staff members across campus both in the undergraduate colleges and in the professional programs. Through these connections, I have heard various concerns and ideas from my colleagues, and I believe I have the skills to be a voice for them. As a recruiter in a professional school, I have valuable experience in listening to the goals that individuals want to achieve and forming a plan to make them a reality. If elected for staff senate, I promise I will work diligently to represent the staff and their best interests to create a fulfilling work environment.
