I am excited to have been nominated for staff senate by my peers. I have recently joined the Senate as an affiliate member for the Personnel Affairs Committee, where I have taken an interest in Health Insurance Changes/Issues our staff are facing. My experience as an affiliate member has helped me to understand the workings of UNL’s Staff Senate. I have always been passionate about improving the working conditions of those around me- whether it be by advocating for my peers or simply offering a helping hand. Furthermore, my current experience as a Board Member for the No Coast Roller Derby League has allowed me to collaborate to strategically plan the league’s operating budget and work in partnership with community members. While attending graduate school here at UNL, I was part of my graduate student association, serving on the Undergraduate Committee. As an Undergraduate Committee member, I provided insights related to student success and helped organize the annual undergraduate student award ceremony. If elected onto Staff Senate, I would be involved in gathering testimonials from staff regarding current healthcare issues, and work to ensure that we have a voice regarding decisions about healthcare and insurance changes.
