Title: Project Specialist III

Bio: Hi! I’m Charley Firestone, a Project Specialist III in the Office of Sponsored Programs. UNL holds a special place in my heart; not only as an alumna, but also as a staff member with ten years of service to the university community. I’m grateful to contribute, in my own way, to the education and research mission that serves Nebraskans and communities beyond. My professional journey has prepared me well to serve on Staff Senate. I began my career at the university in the Department of Statistics as an Office Associate and have since held roles in two IANR business centers, IANR’s Finance & Personnel Office, and now the Office of Sponsored Programs. These experiences across departments, business centers, and central administration have given me a broad understanding of how the university functions as a whole. This diverse background allows me to approach challenges with both perspective and empathy. I understand the complexities staff navigate each day, and I truly value the essential role staff play in keeping the university running. It would be an honor to represent my colleagues and serve as a thoughtful, engaged voice on Staff Senate.
