My name is Jay Omar, I am currently the News Director for Nebraska Public Media. I am interested in staff senate because I believe in the importance of the University of Nebraska and its role in our state. My wife is also employed at the University, and my son attends Ruth Staples Child Development Lab on East Campus. I have deep, meaningful ties to the University. I am committed to helping the University push into the future, and I understand the landscape of higher education is changing. In addition, I have been a team leader and manager at multiple news outlets, including Nebraska Public Media and 1011 News, since my mid 20's, making me well equipped to help adjust to the fast-changing educational climates. I would also be happy to be a representative from Nebraska Public Media and bring a voice from our organization to the table.
