My "Why":

I am running for Staff Senate President because I believe leadership should start from the ground up. Having had the pleasure of serving on the Executive Committee for the past two years, I have gained deep insight into how our Senate works—and where we can grow. In my everyday role as a Program and Operations Specialist, my professional focus is dedicated entirely to developing staff and creating community. I want to bring that exact passion to the presidency. Our university thrives when our staff thrives, yet it is easy for individual voices to get lost in a large institution. My motivation is simple: I want to build a Senate where every single staff member—no matter their shift, title, or department—feels seen, valued, and accurately represented. I want to move away from a traditional leadership model and instead serve as a facilitator who helps you, our senators, lift up the people you represent.

My Platform:

If elected, my goal is to shift our focus from just maintaining the status quo to actively advocating our community and equipping others to lead. My platform is built on three clear priorities:

  • Empowering Our Senators to Learn and Lead: I value proactive information sharing and mentorship. As the VP for Internal Affairs, I met regularly with Committee Chairs and Lead Senators, creating a strong, supportive network where leadership is shared and cross-trained. I want to continue to give Senators the support they need to map out and connect with every unit in their districts. By dividing this work, we can make sure no staff member is left without a designated point of contact.
  • True Openness and Communication: To close the information gap, I am committing to a strict "Friday Feedback & Forecast" discipline. You will receive a clear, plain-language update from the Executive Committee every single week, so you always know what is happening.
  • Creating Spaces for Voice and Connection: We will protect time in our general meetings for an "Open Mic" session, giving you a dedicated space to share what you are hearing from constituents. Additionally, we will introduce "Growth Months"—informal, off-business months where we can focus on staff wellness, network over coffee, and build practical skills like conflict resolution and effective advocacy.
